India is a timeless civilization, firmly established upon the bedrock of unity in diversity and continuity amidst change. Throughout the course of world history India has made significant contributions to humanity through science, mathematics, spirituality, literature and polity. It has given the world leaders and role models including Mahatma Gandhi, Mother Teresa, Kabir, and countless others. It is with this firm understanding that VOICE intends to present India at Drexel University.

Variety of Indian Cultural Expressions at Drexel University was founded to provide a unifying basis from which people may explore the beauty and cultural heritage of India and its people. Anyone who is willing to learn more about the culture or is interested in our mission is welcome to join. VOICE encourages and invites you to participate in community services, meet new friends, and take interest in other related activities. An organization called South Asian Society (SAS) was started in 1997. Since then it has expanded and has been recognized to Drexel University as bringing annual Holi shows, dinners, and social events. As of November 15, 2000, the organization formerly known as the South Asian Society has changed its name to Variety of Indian Cultural expressions, VOICE. It was voted on by many members for a change of name. Located in the heart of Philadelphia, the members of VOICE aim to teach the people around us the true culture of India. We, as students, try our best by any means we know how. Our goal is to enlighten the uneducated to our wonderful culture the best way possible.

Drexel University’ Variety of Indian Cultural Expressions (VOICE) is a student organization that unites to promote an educational, cultural, and social exchange for those who show an interest in the South Asian culture. Our organization constantly strives to make a positive impact not only at Drexel University but the surrounding Philadelphia community as well. We organize and host many cultural events throughout the academic year.
